Supervise activities of gage technicians to insure timely and accurate gage calibration, design and procure new gages, replace/repair damaged or lost gages, and support all other quality department operations. Also responsible for gage room work instructions, calibration records and 5S activities. Autocad and ProE.

4/90 – 6/06 Machine & Tool Designer – Jacobs Chuck Mfg. Co. – Clemson, SC
Design of tooling and custom machinery used in the manufacturing of drill chucks and other tool holding devices, and product design. Responsibilities include design, ordering, testing, and implementation of custom machinery, misc. tooling and gauging, and produce manufacturing process prints. AutoCAD, Intergraph EMS, and Solid Edge.

4/88 – 4/90 Associate Engineer – Square D Co., Low Voltage Switchgear Division – Seneca, SC
Member of design team designing the new QED-4 line of switchboards. Responsibilities included design of structures and assemblies, associated detail drawings, assembly drawings, and bills of material. Designed the first QED-4 Rainproof Enclosures. Prime Medusa.

4/87 – 4/88 Designer (Contract) – Simmons-Rand Mining Machinery Co. – Bristol, VA
Designed various structural and mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies to produce a new mid-seam coal miner. Responsible for design layout, assembly and detail drawings, bills of material and verification of construction and assembly. Reported directly to Product Development VP. CADAM.

8/81 – 4/87 Designer – Asheville Industries Inc., Div. of Newport News Shipbuilding – Arden, NC
Served as CAD Supervisor for two years. Responsible for scheduling, delegating, and prechecking work load as provided by the department managers of the various disciplines (mechanical, piping, structural, etc.) Also simultaneously responsible for the design of various ships structures and foundations, and their associated top level assembly and detail drawings, for the 688 Class of fast attack submarines and CVN Class aircraft carriers. Was instrumental in developing the modular construction technique of building submarines and aircraft carriers that is still in use today. Also served as ship-check team member. CADAM.

CIVIC ACTIVITIES:

Four consecutive terms as Town Councilman – Town of Salem, South Carolina.
